Vision

Connecting Math is a nonprofit initiative whose mission is to promote quality math learning in primary schools in Kenya, using playful, curriculum-aligned, digital activities.

The Program

Connecting Math is a supplementary digital math program for students in Kindergarten through Grade 6. It offers hundreds of interactive activities that allow children to explore math in a gamified, low-pressure environment — where they can learn through experimentation and practice.

  • Students play on laptops or tablets, ideally working in pairs (which encourages collaboration).

  • Easily fits into the school schedule, requiring just one hour per week.

  • Supports independent student work, and can also be used as a presentation aid in class.

  • Promotes conceptual understanding, not just rote skills or drill-based repetition.

  • Designed to complement the teacher’s role, not replace them

  • Offered freely to schools as part of our nonprofit mission to

    support math learning in Kenya.

Program Foundation

Connecting Math is built on the award-winning digital math activities of Matific, a global leader in math education used by millions of students in over 50 countries.

Matific has authorized Connecting Math to use its content in Kenya as part of this nonprofit initiative.

While the core learning approach is the same, Connecting Math is an independent program being adapted for the local context.

Some differences from the global Matific product include:

Localization: Activities will be available in both English and Swahili.

Lighter delivery: The platform is being streamlined to be better suited for moderate internet conditions, recognizing the infrastructure realities of many schools.

Local focus: We aim to gradually adapt the experience based on practical classroom use specifically in schools in Kenya and broader contextual understanding.

Pilot Program (Starting January 2026)

As a first step, Connecting Math will launch a pilot program with nine schools in Kenya.

This initial phase will help us adapt the delivery model, gather classroom experience, and establish sustainable implementation practices.

Pilot Features

The pilot will span one full school year, starting January 2026.
Schools will be asked to dedicate one hour per week for students to use the program (in a computer lab or on tablets)

A teacher assistant may be provided by Connecting Math to support the school during the pilot — primarily to ensure the activities take place as planned and to help with any technical/logistical setup.

Ongoing support will be offered remotely, with efforts to establish local facilitation and partnerships as the program grows

We are currently have nine schools to participate in the first pilot phase. If your school is interested in partnering with us — or if you represent an organization that can help us connect with additional schools — we would be glad to hear from you.
